Waifs, The

International touring artists, The Waifs return to Australia for a string of local shows this March 2007, starting at Adelaide s premier music event Womadelaide and finishing up as special guests on the Australian leg of Keith Urban s, Love, Pain and the whole crazy World Tour.

This tour will be a welcome home for The Waifs and their fans who haven t seen the band showcase their infectious folk / country hybrid sounds live, since their last local shows in 2005. These shows will also present fans with their first opportunity to hear the band s new material.

The Waifs are currently in Nashville, USA laying down tracks to the highly anticipated follow up to their last studio recording, the double platinum, multiple award winning Up All Night (2003). Donna and Vikki Simpson and Josh Cunningham, will each be bringing a plethora of new songs written over the past two years into these studio sessions.

Due for completion mid 2007, the yet to be named album will be released on Jarrah Records, the fully independent label they share with the John Butler Trio, and MGM Distribution.

The Waifs A Brief History (2004) and Up All Night (2003) are available now through Jarrah Records and MGM Distribution.

They really have the punters eating out of their hands as Vikki slips seamlessly between "Circles" and the Willie Nelson classic, "Crazy". At this point, listeners see the essential connection - between the band as players and the band and audience, which is the source of the Waifs' success. Rolling Stone Magazine
