Slava Grigoryan

2002 Aria Winner for Best Classical Performer

ARIA award winning classical guitarist Slava Grigoryan is doing just that - playing classic guitar - solo. A man and his guitar. Music for one. It has been eight years since Slava last embarked on a solo tour. This has not been from a lack of desire. He's just been busy, (very busy) writing, recording and performing both in Australia and internationally. He has performed with his brother Leonard, Saffire (The Australian Guitar Quartet), Jane Rutter, Simon Tedeschi, Joe Tawadros, the Symphony Orchestras of Melbourne, West Australia, Queensland, Sydney & Tasmania, international jazz legend Ralph Towner and more, so many, many, more. These and other unions have seen him delve into a variety of styles and settings from classical to world music, from jazz to pop. This solo tour sees Slava performing the music of I Albeniz, N Westlake and more, including Bach cello suites on a rarely heard member of the string family, the Baritone Guitar - an instrument with a rich mellifluous sound. This is a wonderful opportunity for audiences to hear this astounding classical guitarist up close and personal.
